COVID-19: TIGHTENING OF SANITARY MEASURES IN THE RED ZONE

October 5, 2020, at 1:30 p.m. Vaudreuil-Dorion—This Monday, the government tightened health measures relating to the increase in COVID-19 cases in red zones. Vaudreuil-Dorion is currently in the red zone.

What we love most in the world is being in the gym helping anyone who wants to push their own limits through acrobatic sports. This is why we hate to cancel lessons or change schedules. Unfortunately, the new government measures imply several impacts in our course offer.

We are obligated to take the following actions in order to comply with the new standards in the red zone (https://bit.ly/2GBQHWb). The measures will apply from Thursday, October 8 through Wednesday, October 28 inclusively.

The measures taken for the safety of your children are:

  • For the recreational sector in Vaudreuil-Dorion—all sports (gymnastics, cheerleading, parkour, tumbling, circus)
    • Action taken: Postponement of the fall session. All recreational classes will be suspended from October 8 to 28 inclusively. Classes will resume from Thursday, October 29 and the session will be extended until January 17, 2021. Please see the class schedule here: https://bit.ly/2SHrCvP.
    • Consequence on purchases: The courses will remain offered. However, if you wish to cancel your session, it is possible to do so by contacting us at info@clubgymini.org. Refunds can be processed from October 29, or from the date of resumption of classes.

  • For the recreational sector in Rigaud and Coteau-du-Lac—gymnastics and Acrovoltige
    • Action taken: Maintenance of activities for all participants living in the orange zone. Participants living in the red zone will unfortunately have to stay at home. Classes will change location. A communication will be sent to everyone concerned.
    • Consequence on purchases: Credit offered for participants living in the red zone who cannot participate in the activity. Those affected will be contacted directly.

  • For the Pre-Competitive Sector—Gymnastics
    • Action taken: A distance training schedule will be offered. More details will follow for affected participants.
    • Consequence on purchases: Credit offered pro rata to non-offered hours, as presented at the start of the year meeting.

  • For the competitive sector—gymnastics and cheerleading
    • Action taken: A distance training schedule will be offered. More details will follow for affected participants.
    • Consequence on purchases: Credit offered pro rata to non-offered hours, as presented at the start of the year meeting.
  • For the sports-étude gymnastics program and concentration sports cheerleading at the Chêne-Bleu High School and John Rennie High School
    • Action taken: Maintenance of activities. The groups will be rearranged in order to respect group classes and social distancing. Hours will resume from 1:30m. to 5:15 p.m. Monday to Friday.

A PAINFUL BREAK

It is with disappointment, heartbreak and pain that we must slow down or pause our passion. For a large part of the population, sport is essential. It helps restore balance, promote physical and psychological health, and develop healthy lifestyles.

We will await the recommendations of our sports federations (Gymnastique Québec and the Fédération de cheerleading du Québec), to find out whether there are ways to develop solutions that would allow a certain return to training.

A COLLECTIVE RESPONSIBILITY

We would like to thank you for your patience and resilience. Since the start of the pandemic, we have been forced to constantly change our schedules and procedures, but all of our members have participated in the collective effort without flinching. Once again: thank you!

We never want to cancel classes, but it is vital for the entire sports industry to stand behind government decisions and take the required actions quickly to reduce the long-term impacts of this pandemic. Your health, that of your children and of our employees is our priority and this depends on respecting the rules of the game.

Let’s stay healthy, be safe and do everything we can to get things back to normal as quickly as possible.
